Dapat tingnan! Bishop wants US role in Mamasapano probed
A senior Catholic Church official wants to know if the United States is indeed involved in the clash that killed 44 Special Action Force members in Mamasapano, Maguindanao in January 2015.
Lipa Archbishop Ramon Arguelles stressed this as he supported a plan by President Duterte to reopen the investigation, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines said.
“There were lies and inconsistencies in the whole tragic affair. Even the role of the USA needs to be clarrified,” Arguelles, a former military bishop, said on the CBCP news site.
At least 60 were killed in the Mamasapano clash, which stemmed from an operation to neutralize a suspected terrorist.
Meanwhile, Marbel Bishop Dinualdo Gutierrez also backed the reopening of the probe, saying it is necessary “for the truth to come out.”
