Pang-pelikula! Mayor Arnan Pangilinan ‘rescues’ ship on fire
Summer is fast approaching and Calapan Mayor Arnan Pangilinan already feels its heat–literally.
On his Facebook account, the Politiko reported about their rescue mission, on a ship that caught fire en route to his city.
He wrote: “RESCUED – Report I received an hour ago from a ship passenger by cell phone – a Montenegro roro vessel from Calapan City bound for Batangas caught fire in the engine room near Matuko Point. Rescue operations by Coast Guard vessels and other ships are being conducted. No reports of casualties so far because of timely rescue. Many passengers are now on board Coast Guard ships. Keep praying for the safety of passengers.”
The Mayor also uploaded photos of the ship and rescued passengers to update their families and other authorities involved.
“Photos: rescued passengers on board a Coast Guard vessel and the abandoned Montenegro ship that caught fire in the engine room. Photos sent by my staff Josef Elvin Campos who was among those rescued and now safe in Batangas with the other passengers.”
