Former Lucena mayor Talaga gets jail term over anomalous computerization project
Former Lucena City Mayor Ramon Talaga Jr. has been sentenced to imprisonment over the anomalous 2002 computerization project worth P36 million.
In its decision, the Sandiganbayan 3rd Division found Talaga guilty of graft and slapped him a jail term ranging from six to eight years.
Apart from this, Talaga was also meted with perpetual disqualification from holding public office.
The case stemmed from the P36 million revenue generation system computerization project in 2002.
The project was awarded to the firm Amellar Solutions which did not comply with the technical requirements for the project and did not undergo the required public bidding.
The anti-graft court pointed out resorting to limited source bidding lacks valid justification.
