May pasok! Taytay Councilor Papoo Cruz reminds constituents that December 8 is NOT a holiday

Dec 2, 2017 @ 13:24

Take note, there is no long weekend next week.

Taytay Councilor Papoo Cruz issued this reminder amid a push to declare December 8 a non-working holiday in observance of the Feast of the Immaculate Concepcion of Mary.

A bill putting this in effect was passed in the House of Representatives, but has not yet hurdled the Senate.

So yes, you have to go to school and to work on that day in Taytay, Cruz reminded his constituents as he shared a post from the National Wages and Productivity Commission.

Maybe next year would be a different story.

“Better luck next year tayo!‘Although the House of Representatives already passed on third and final reading House Bill 5241 declaring December 8 of every year a special non-working holiday in the entire country to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, it is still has to be approved by the Senate and signed into law by the President. Therefore, December 8 is not yet a holiday this year.’Source: FB Page of National Wages and Productivity Commission,” he posted.
