Aragones forms TWG to consolidate 4 divorce bills
Laguna 3rd District Representative Sol Aragones on February formed a technical working group (TWG) taked to consolidate four bills seeking to introduce divorce in the Philippines.
The Laguna politiko is the chairperson of the House committee on population and family relations.
House Bill No. 116 states that the grounds for a judicial decree of absolute divorce are the grounds for legal separation under Article 55 of the Family Code of the Philippines and grounds for annulment of marriage under Article 45 of the Family Code of the Philippines.
House Bill No. 1062, on the other hand, seeks to amend Chapter 3 of Executive Order 209 or the Family Code of the Philippines by prescribing an additional ground for annulment.
The proposed amendmend seeks to allow annulment provided that the parties have been separated for at least five years.
House Bill No. 2380, meanhwile, seeks to introduce divorce as another option for couples in failed and irreparable marriages.
The last measure is House Bill No. 6027 which seek to annul a marriage based on irreconcilable differences or severe and chronic unhappiness of the spouses.
