Change is coming! Bambol Tolentino wins as POC chair
Cavite Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino has won the chairmanship race in the Philippine Olympic Committee’s (POC) elections.
Tolentino, who heads the cycling group, defeated table tennis head Ting Ledesma, 23-15, in the polls held Friday (February 23).
His ally, Ricky Vargas, was named president after beating the incumbent Jose “Peping” Cojuangco.
The 82-year-old former congressman of Tarlac ruled POC for 13 years, with the country barely improving its chances of winning a gold medal at the Olympics.
Cojuangco won a fourth term as POC president in the November 2016 elections but his victory was declared null and void by Pasig regional trial court.
