Laguna establishes friendly ties with Jinjiang, China
Calamba City Mayor Justin Chipeco and a delegation from Jinjiang, Fujian Province recently inked friendly ties with the Chinese city.
Jinjiang is supposedly where national hero Jose Rizal’s great, great grandfather, Cua Yi Lam, traced his roots before settling in Calamba in 1697.
The Laguna politiko lauded Jinjiang for “embracing Rizal as its son,”
Chipeco also thanked the Chinese city for acknowledging Rizal’s “Chinese ancestral roots and thereby keeping alive the historical link between the Philippines and China.”
The Jinjiang vice mayor Li Zili, who led the Chinese delegation, invited the Calamba officials to visit his city in the future to seal the two cities’ friendly ties.#
