House panel OKs substitute bill mandating free dialysis for indigent patients
Quezon 4th District Representative Angelina Tan’s committee on health recently approved a substitute bill mandating government hospital to give free dialysis treatment to indigent patients.
The proposed measure requires all government hospitals to establish a dialysis service facility.
It also seeks to establish affordable kidney transplant facilities in strategic areas in the country.
“The measure was crafted to adopt an integrated and comprehensive approach to health developments. Specifically, to improve the delivery of healthcare services to patients with ESRD and encourage them to have a kidney transplant,” Tan said.
The proposed bill also seeks the expansion of the Philhealth benefits for kidney transplants of renal replacement therapy for both living and deceased donors.
