Suarez to Aguirre: Who’s better, a Cabinet member who’s doing nothing or does nothing right?

Mar 21, 2018 @ 16:59

The word war between Justice Secretary Vit Aguirre and House Minority Leader Danny Suarez went a notch further on Wednesday after the latter took a potshot at the former

Suarez, in a press conference, said he did not understand why Aguirre felt alluded to when the minority bloc last week called on President Rodrigo Duterte to review the performance of his Cabinet members.

“Ang sinasabi ko lang dito, performance ng lahat ng Cabinet,” he said.

But Suarez added another dig at Aguirre: “Dito sa Cabinet, merong mga walang ginagawa or maraming ginagawa pero mali. Mamili kayo kung sino ang mas maganda.”

Aguirre earlier said Suarez wanted him to resign because of a looming showdown between their families in Quezon’s third district.

The DOJ secretary said his son, Aries, was planning to run for the third district of Quezon province, and that Suarez apparently saw him as a “threat” to their political dynasty in Bondoc Peninsula.

Suarez’s son, Quezon Governor Jayjay Suarez, is on his last term and is expected to take over Suarez’s seat in Quezon’s third district.

“‘Di po ako puwedeng mag-resign under these circumstances. Like isang congressman, pinapareview ang aking performance kasi anak ko gusto kumandidato sa kanilam kalabanin dynasty nila. Maramai ang nagsasabi mag-resign ako pero wala naman sa katuwiran,” Aguirre said.

Suarez, however, contradicted Aguirre, saying it’s not true he wanted him out of the DOJ.

“Di ko gustong mawala sya sa pwesto kasi karangalan ng probinsya namin na sa amin ang pinuno ng DOJ,” he said.
