Mayor Mercado-Revilla leads launching of book on ‘Bacoor Assembly’

Aug 6, 2018 @ 11:22

Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla on August 1 led the launch of a book on the “Bacoor Assembly” which has long been an unrecognized part of Philippine history.

The book, entitled “Proclamation: Philippine Independence – The Truth About Aug. 1, 1898 Bacoor Assembly (A Historiographical Inquiry),” highlights its role in the shaping of national history.

The Bacoor city government commissioned Philippine Historical Association (PHA) President Dr. Emmanuel F. Calairo to write the book.

Mercado admitted that the August 1 Bacoor Assembly is controversial.

“However, the city’s commitment towards understanding the real happening in Bacoor and its constituents is our priority in order to show to our people that once upon a time, Bacoor stood up to be the center of the revolutionary struggle in Philippine history,” she explained.
