Ex-Batangas mayor Reyes charged for buying children’s P6.5M property
Dismissed Malvar, Batangas mayor Cristeta Reyes has been charged for purchase of a P6.65 million property from her children.
The Office of the Ombudsman filed the case before the Sandiganbayan after finding probable cause to indict her with two counts of graft.
Her co-accused in one of the charges include municipal treasurer Yolanda Cabiscuelas and municipal budget officer Jeanette Castillo Fruelda.
The case stemmed from the purchase of a 5,000 square meter lot on behalf of the municipality in 2009.
However, the Ombudsman learned that the P6,650,000 for the purchase of the property was paid to her children who were found to have owned the lot.
Her children who got the payment for the property were Katherine, Cynthia Rose, Jose Gabriel and Karina.
